Remarkable

In 1962, a group of families collaborated with area manufacturing groups to create a program that provided meaningful vocational training and job opportunities for teens and adults with disabilities. Formerly known as Lakeside Packaging Plus, Remarkable has facilities in Neenah and Oshkosh where 80 staff members provide training, guidance, and care to over 250 clients. Remarkable’s packaging program works with over 65 partner businesses, generating $1.3 million in manufacturing, packaging, and assembly projects. Remarkable also offers a variety of services designed to support the developmentally and intellectually disabled community. Day services and activities, prevocational and employment skills development, community volunteerism and work experience opportunities, and artistry programs all focus on fulfilling Remarkable’s mission to elevate the lives of people with diverse abilities. Remarkable’s Chief Executive Officer, Rob Servais, notes, “We want Remarkable to be a beacon of light for families of folks with special abilities.”

“Thank you, Fox Cares! Your funds are instrumental; what you’re doing is spreading kindness and hope and giving people opportunities.”

~ Rob Servais, CEO, Remarkable

In 2024, the Fox Cares Foundation provided $1000 to support Remarkable’s Inclusive Artistry Department, an innovative group of programs that give specially-abled individuals opportunities to discover the benefits of artistic exploration. Established in October of 2023, the programs provide a powerful means of self-expression that benefits verbal and non-verbal artists alike. Today, over 60 clients are enjoying onsite art education classes, working on guided group projects, and creating original designs. Artwork is sold at area fairs, an online store, and a newly opened shop that carries framed prints and merchandise (mugs, keychains, bags, etc.) with pictures of original artwork, with a portion of the sales paid back to the artists. Servais notes that while the artists love getting their commission checks, they are energized by a feeling of accomplishment that promotes personal growth on many levels. “The whole artistic process empowers participants with confidence that fosters independence and fuels future success.”
